With the maturity of multi-core processor technology and mobile platforms, today dual core laptops have made their way into the entry-level segment. This is a notebook mainly aimed at basic home and office users seeking good value for money. The major challenge when you offer a product at affordable or low prices is to maintain a balance between its features and its performance. Weighing about 2.4 kgs, Zenith in this model has configured an entry level dual core processor ie 1.86 GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, with 2 GB DDR2 amount of memory and storage memory which is sufficient for running Windows Vista Home Basic. Windows Vista also comes preinstalled. The director is loaded with all basic features that are required for everyday computing.

To make sure you don?t fall short of storage space instantly, Zenith has complemented the basic storage in the directory with a 120 GB hard drive and a DVD writer. The screen display measures 15.4 inches and has a resolution of 1280x800. The other essential components that encompass the above mentioned feature set include Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g, and a dial-up modem, 8x DVD writer and integrated 802.11 wireless LAN connection.

When you think of it as budget laptop one may worry about its build quality. However it is interesting to know that the quality of the chassis is more than we expected. You will be pleased by the unit?s sturdiness. The notebook with its all black body except the metallic grey lid looks attractive and presentable.

The comfort of the user is given priority when designing the notebook. Zenith has provided plenty of space below the keyboard for resting the palm comfortably while typing. The left side of the laptop features a USB port, modem jack and D-sub port. However only the DVD writer is positioned on the right side. The speakers are placed on the front in line with the headphone and microphone jacks.

The laptop is meant for basic home and office applications. Apart from those you can use it for some light entertainment such as listening to music or watching movies. The one major problem with this laptop is its battery life which isn't more than an hour which makes it more like an entry level desktop replacement than a mobile device. The Zenith Director is a good choice for those who have a small budget. But keep in mind that it's certainly not meant for the road unless you have a couple of spare batteries.

Pros :-
Good value for money.

Cons :-
No PC card slot, poor battery life, USB ports placed at the rear.
