Expert Reviews
Expert Rating : Good
The Canon PowerShot A460 is an entry level model succeeding A430 and offers more features at a very reasonable price. It boasts a 5 mega pixel image resolution, higher from A430's 4 mega pixel resolution. The camera has a simple, bulky design, not flashy and sleek but is commendable for its pricing.

The model has an increased 4x zoom to offer and gives good images through its 5- point AiAF autofocusing system. The 5- point autofocusing divides the screen into 5 parts and delivers focusing on the objects closer to it. The images provide a good print out up to 8 x10 inches in size but above it the images do not fair well.

The camera just needs a pair of AA batteries, so a rechargeable set of NiMH AA batteries would be sound option to look at. It provides the movies mode but it does not match good quality standards. At 320 x 240 pixel resolution it provides a 30 frame per second smooth viewing and looks decent on the 1.8 inch LCD it touts. The camera is respectable in the lag time for taking still images without the flash. It takes about 0.48 seconds for a single image. But this speed in unearthed while using the flash. The time taken for each image is increased to around to 2.30 seconds and this lag time is very annoying. At this the camera really disappoints the potential buyer.

The other features include a self-timer, continuous shooting mode and colour options. There is a red-eye reduction option which helps reduce the lens defect. It also has an array of options for getting the best setting for an image like Portrait, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Indoor, Kids & Pets and Night Snapshot. The camera will adjust itself to what it feels would be the best setting for these particular images.

All the connections needed for attaching the camera to a computer, printer and television are provided within. It weighs around 165 grams and is not the handiest one in the market but it is a good buy for starters and the easy usage with the low pricing makes it a recommendable option for the purchaser.

Canon Powershot A460 is a shirt-pocket (or purse) camera; while not among the smallest models on the market, it is small enough to be carried around in a pocket or belt pouch. its good for beginners or a casual snapshooter, who will be using the camera mostly in the all-auto mode, not missing any user-adjustable features.

Pros : zoom

Cons : slow flash recharge

Overall,Canon Powershot A460 is an excellent camera. The pictures are clear and the camera is simple as compared to others which have too many options. Easy enough for the beginner. Decent amount of features for a cheap camera.Takes good pictures right out of the box, with a little practice it takes great pictures. Battery life isn't too bad.
