The third generation Nano has included the video playback for the popular series. This has resulted in a makeover of the Nano design with a larger diagonal screen of 2 inches and design going the classic way, but the compactness and the size have been retained. This 50 grams portable player is small enough to fit in most pockets and the sleekness just adds to its glamour.

The third generation Nano comes in two versions of 4GB and 8GB flash memory. The six colour options are only available for the 8GB version and the 4GB version comes in the classic silver colour. This partiality is not accepted, the colours offered in the 8GB version are unique and the same for the 4GB version would have only enhanced the product. The player supports AAC, protected AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV file formats for audio. In case of music it can play non-stop for about 24 hours. It can play videos for about 5 hours. Thus with an average usage of six hours daily one need not charge for 4 days even if used on full power. It takes around 3 hours for complete recharging of its inbuilt lithium ion battery. It also features a quick recharge facility, which fills in about 80% of the battery in 1.5 hours. The charging is done through the USB connected to the computer or through a charger which is to be obtained separately. If apple provided a charger it would have been all the more useful, as charging form the USB becomes inconvenient during trips.

The flash drive also acts as a storage device for documents or more multimedia files. It has scores of language support for album, song and artist information. The ear-in headphones are clear and live up to the standards of the iPod music quality and clarity. The pricing is on the higher side but then iPod offers the standard and the hype above all.

Third generation 4GB Nano is very simple but have good quality with great resolution.This is gifted by my sister to me.Its voice quality is cool, infact can say that best.I am using mini speakers also with it.

Can't expect more from a third generation model. Great size, Great resolution, I use it on my commute to work which is about an hour by train, bus, and ferry. It lasts a bit longer than what they say it will, I got about 2.5 hours of video, and about 9 hours of music play, and still had more than a 1/4 of its juice still in the battery.

Cons : No FM radio or voice recorder, sometimes scroll whell is difficult to control.

 
This is my first ipod. I have a Palm TX with Wi-Fi where you can almost do the same or more: mp3, video, surf internet, etc. This Ipod Nano generation (3rd) is almost full of features so i have decided to give it a try. Under Mac OS X, I tried to drag and drop photos and videos from iPhoto to iTunes without success, it took me a while to realize that the only way is to synchronize from iTunes to be able to transfer them. I'm an FM listener, i will need to buy the iPod Radio Remote but it's expensive and bulky. I hope for a day in a future, Apple will include an FM radio to this wonder.
