Product Name :

Motorola MOTORAZR2 V9m (Sprint) Cellular Phone

Product Code: 362

No handset in the RAZR range has managed to capture the same excitement as that which met the original V3, and Motorola has been accused of resting on their laurels and relying on past glories instead of true innovation. The MOTORAZR2, then, is part evolution and part attempted revolution; Motorola recognising that, while the same ethos of ?slim & sexy? might kick-start design, these days you need true features if you want to win sales. Sprint sent over their version of the MOTORAZR2, the V9m, and asked us to be honest about whether this descendant lives up to its heritage.

Expert Reviews
Expert Rating : Very Good
The Motorola Razr2 V9m offers an updated, sexy design that features user-friendly controls with vibrating tactile feedback. The feature set is generous, and its performance is admirable. The next-generation Motorola Razr2 -- this model is packed with extras, including a 2-megapixel camera, 65MB of onboard storage and a spacious external display with a touch-sensitive screen. In short, the Razr2 V9m is slightly bigger and heavier than the Razr V3s, but it's also a lot slicker.

Camera
Razr2 V9m is the inclusion of a 2-megapixel camera. Along with that camera comes quite a few options, such as brightness, a timer, shutter controls, white balance, color effects (sepia, black and white, and negative), fun frames, and even a multiple-shot option for capturing several frames of the same object quickly. The camera lacks a flash, but there is a 4X zoom that?s not immediately obvious. The screen automatically flips into horizontal mode when you turn the cell phone in this direction. You can also easily snap self-portraits when using the camera with the cell phone closed. As for picture quality, the Razr2 is pretty good at capturing flesh tones and surroundings. Video quality is acceptable as well.

Design
The Motorola Razr slim shadow continues to loom over the cell phone world, and Moto continues to capitalize on the design with countless updated models. But it's only the Razr2 that brings a total makeover to the design. It looks slick and sports the trademark keypad. Yet more importantly, it just looks a whole lot sexier and more streamlined.

Performance
Call quality was satisfying on most accounts. Voices sounded natural, volume was high, and the reception was clear. Music quality was quite agreeable. The single speaker at the bottom of the phone provided loud output and clarity video quality on the main display was disappointing. On numerous videos we encountered moderate distortion and pixelation., the quality on the exterior display was better most of the time. The Razr V9m has a rated battery life of 3.6 hours talk time and 12 days standby time. Our tests revealed a talk time of 5 hours and 4 minutes.

After seeing this phone in the store i was excited to try it out. It had nice style and had a good aesthetic feel to it. Unfortunately 1 week later i returned it due to it feeling unfinished. The phone locked up on me trying to check e-mail. I upgraded the firmware and it kept locking up on me (4 times in 3 hours). About half the time when i opened the phone up, some random app (navigation or e-mail usually) would start up even though i had previously exited that program. It has a picture on the back of the box for sprint navigation. Was not able to successfully get this to work and the sprint help line was useless. It looks good but does not seem to fully work

good for young crowd

This phone is way too complicated for me. I am 60, and all I really want is a good phone that I can just pick up and talk on. This phone has music (expensive to download songs),and everything else including live TV. It would probably be good for a teenager or someone in their mid 20's. I will not be keeping this phone, but the younger crowd would probably like it.

I have had no trouble with this phone. I bought it so I could check my stocks, and the Openwave internet device on my phone works very well. I like the voice calling feature, I almost always use it when calling. I have over two hundred names in my phonebook. The only thing that I had trouble with was transferring my Outlook contacts by cable using Motorola Phone Tools. I bought the cable on Ebay, and it might be counterfeit. I had no trouble transferring by using my bluetooth dongle. I haven't used the music player very often, but it does work very well.
